Buying a hybrid? what you need to know

Hybrid cars are gaining a wider following, largely due to their economic benefits as they significantly reduce the need for petrol and oil while greatly reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) switch between power sources. At low speeds, hybrids run on a rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) a bit like a battery, and at higher speeds, for more oomph and propulsion, they switch to a fuel supply.
